ANIMATED FILM “THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG FEATURES DISNEY’S FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRINCESS
For more than a decade now, animated films have been dominated by computer-generated images; but Disney takes a big step back with its new feature: a tune-filled fairy tale created by hand-drawn animation, in the style studio founder Walt Disney used to make. It also presents the first African-American princess in Disney history.
“The evening star is shining bright, so make a wish and hold on tight. There’s magic in the air tonight …and anything can happen.”
Of course following suit with other Disney princess films, it will be complete with song and dance, magic, and animals.
Besides Rose, some well-known names in the entertainment industry such as Oprah Winfrey, John Goodman, Terrance Howard lend their voices to the cast.
Although the film has yet to be widely released, merchandise for the movie is flying off the shelves; Princess Tiana costumes sold out this Halloween, as did, hair products for young girls marketed with Princess Tianna’s likeness.
A few theaters across the nation already opened the movie to select theaters on November 25th, but on December 11th, The Princess and the Frog will be released nationwide.
