[AUDIO] Get Wit Blaze Blackheart
British newcomer Blaze Blackheart brings on the happy vibes with his new single, “I Feel Alright,” which includes a clever sample of The Fatback Band’s “I Found Lovin’.”
The song is a buzzing slice of hip pop dominated by a bright melody, shiny synths and a catchy, funked up club groove that perfectly fit Blaze’s lyrics about living it up and letting go. “It’s Alright” is simply too irresistible to be denied.
Born in Zambia and raised in England, this self-styled “gentleman of hip hop” has been inspired by a variety of people, including Marvin Gaye, Tupac, Bob Marley, Bruce Lee and, yes, even Shakespeare. “I love the poetry in Shakespeare,” he says in a recent interview. “When you look at [Shakespearean] tragedies, the tragedy is avoidable. I use that as a way of avoiding the darker side of things and making it positive.”
And that positivity shines through in his love for music. In fact, his passion for music inspired his artist name. “Blaze is an all-consuming fire,” he explains. “It is symbolic of something passionate, and I’m very passionate about music.”
Currently unsigned, Blaze is working on his debut album with the help of his manager and Kiss 100 DJ James Merritt. Listen to “I Feel Alright” to get a taste of his radio-ready sound.
You can catch the newcomer on 1st February at London’s Embassy Club.
