HBO's The Wire Felicia “Snoop” Pearson Arrested In Drug Bust
Felicia “Snoop” Pearson, who played the terrifying assassin Snoop in HBO’s The Wire, was arrested this morning along with 30 other people in a large-scale drug raid in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. The arrests came after a five-month investigation into a large-scale heroin and marijuana operation.
Pearson was discovered by actor Michael K. Williams, who played Omar Little on The Wire. He introduced her to the show’s writers and producers who created a role for her as one of the right hand men for Marlo Stanfield. Pearson brought her experiences as an extremely troubled Baltimore youth to the role. Born prematurely to drug-addicted, she was not expected to survive infancy. She began working for a drug dealer at a very young age and was convicted of second-degree murder at only 14 for the shooting death of a young girl. After serving 6.5 years and earning her GED while incarcerated, Pearon was released and re-entered society with the intention of turning her life around. The girl’s family was reportedly very upset that Pearson gained some degree of fame and rave reviews for her performance as a killer on The Wire, which is pretty understandable. But I have to say that her performance on that show was stunning.
Here’s hoping that this is the last spot of trouble that Pearson finds herself in and that she truly can make better decisions from here on out.
